FedEx Ground, independent businesses provide two types of services to FedEx Ground and its customers:
- Pickup and Delivery (P&D) — Using vans or small trucks, picking up packages from shippers and transporting to the local FedEx Ground station – and, from the destination station, delivering to business and residential recipients
- Linehaul — Transporting FedEx Ground owned trailers over the road from the station to the hub, hub to hub, and hub to the station — and, in some cases, between customer locations and stations or hubs (“spotted trailers” or “spots”)
Each business contracts to provide service for linehaul runs and spots, or pick up and delivery services for a contracted service area. These businesses purchase or lease their own vehicles and are responsible for hiring and training drivers and staff, and planning and executing the day-to-day operations.
As FedEx Ground, a FORTUNE World’s Most Admired Company, continues to enjoy sustained network and market share growth, the businesses that contract with FedEx Ground have superior opportunities to grow as well.
Along with a contractual relationship with FedEx Ground comes:
- Outstanding revenue potential
- Flexible business operations
- Access to resources
Local pickup and delivery (P&D) business opportunities
The explosive growth of e-commerce is leading to unprecedented opportunities for P&D businesses to evolve, as increasingly dense service areas provide opportunities for greater efficiency, flexibility and profitability.
Contracted service providers for P&D services can benefit from:
- Package volume growth
- Contracted service area of both commercial and residential postal codes
- Weekly revenue based on customer demand and business results
- Optional seasonal incentives
- Third-party vendor discounts — truck maintenance, tires and more
